Absolutely not. It is a federal felony to transport cannabis across state borders (even to NY or PA where it is also legal). It must remain in New Jersey.
Yes. Cannabis must be stored in a closed, sealed container (preferably in your trunk). Driving under the influence is illegal and strictly enforced.
Generally, no. Under NJ's CREAMMA law, employers cannot fire you solely for a positive drug test, unless your employer is a federal contractor or you are impaired at work.
No. New Jersey is unique; home cultivation is strictly illegal for both recreational and medical users. All cannabis must be purchased from a licensed dispensary.
Possessing more than 6 ounces of flower is a 4th-degree crime carrying up to 18 months in jail and a $25,000 fine. Over 17g of concentrates is also a 4th-degree crime with up to 18 months and a $10,000 fine. Stick strictly to licensed dispensary products within the limit.
Yes. You may legally gift up to 1 ounce to another adult (21+). However, you cannot receive anything in exchange—no trades, no "tips". Distributing it for any kind of compensation without a license is a felony.
No. Medical cannabis patients have a different separate limit: up to 3 ounces every 30 days.
Yes. Owners can prohibit smoking or vaping on their property.
No. Personnel will verify your government-issued ID to ensure you are 21+, but they are not allowed to make copies of your ID or retain a record of your purchase beyond what is required for that single financial transaction. No state database tracks you.
